No Silver Bullet
Gordon, I completely agree that there is no silver bullet solution to global warming. It is a problem far too complicated to be resolved by one change in our lives. We change all the lightbulbs we want but it wont make a difference if that's all we do.
However I think there are changes that can be made that have a greater impact than others, reducing energy consumption being one of them. Reducing the demand will help solve the issue of supply (and from which source), which will help resolve multiple aspects of the issue - the need to use limited resources to build new power plants/wind farms, energy security, emissions, etc...
We need it all
The "poll" presents a set of limited choices that is indicative of the great failure, so far, of the warming discusion. To successfully reach necesary carbon reduction goals the answer must be ALL -- with the exception, of course, of more coal plants. Even in that case, if a true clean coal option (genuinely carbon neutral) is developed we'll need invest heavily in it too.
Let's not kid ourselves, a change of lifestyle here, a wind farm there, etc. isn't going to get it done.
We are the answer to the energy problem her in Michigan
I believe that if our car manufactures and other business that are affected by new energy ideas, were more supprted than attacked that the information would be given to us. We need to pull together on this issue and see the other side's point of view.
Global Warming in the Great Lakes
The Great Lakes face pressure from all sides. Invasive species, pollution, neglect, water withdrawls, and more. The majority of the scientific community argues that global warming will have a significant impact on our Lakes, and some say the effects are already visible.
