Public Input on Asian Carp Sought by USEPA

A couple of weeks ago I commented in this space about the public being excluded from any potential "Asian Carp Summit" meeting that was to take place with the executive branch of the government and the governors.

That "Summit" will happen on Monday February 8th and it will be closed doors with press releases to follow, and hopefully responses to press inquiries.

Now the USEPA has announced a meeting in Chicago for Friday February 12th specifically designed for the public. The details are linked below.

Kudos to the EPA for doing this but the process seems to be a little backward. Why not get public comment before the executives get together so they could take them into consideration when they make their decisions. It's doubtful public comment is going to impact a decision after it has been made.

Like requiring 60 votes in the Senate to get anything done, seeking after the fact comments from the public is a process that needs to be changed.
